My First Blog Post!

Hi! As you may know from my 'about me' section, my name is Lola and this is my first blog post! First of all, allow me to introduce myself formally. I am currently sixteen years old (turning seventeen in July of this year) and I'm studying English Literature, American, Tudor and Roman History and Business at A-Level in sixth-form.

My favourite subject is history – it's so fascinating, don't you think? All the people like me and you, young and old, who once lived before us shaping the world as we now know it. All the past King's and Queen's keeping our countries intact, all the revolutions, all the wars and battles leading up to this moment in time, where you are now reading this blog post. What a crazy, mind-blowing perspective to think of history from! Perhaps history isn't your forte or your favourite subject but it is undeniably captivating with its mysterious charm. But enough about the past, let's look into the future!

As the case may be, you're a student reading this post, or maybe not. Maybe you're a young person in search of some guidance or maybe you're just looking for some people to resonate with. Thankfully, you've reached the right people; congrats! The future is unpredictable and you might not have a plan in place to follow. But I'll tell you a secret – some of the most successful people we know today never had a clear plan and just winged it, as they say, kind of like how I am winging life at the moment, not only with this blog post but with my studies too. If you're like me, you aren't alone! Granted, I have long-term plans but as far as the immediate future and short-term is concerned, I have NO idea! My long-term student goal is to travel the world, see new places and study in countries some people dream of like Italy, the United States, Japan and Australia. As a fellow Brit who has lived here most of my life, I have seen my fair share of the United Kingdom and would love to explore the rest of the world and see what it has to offer. However, my short-term goals aren't so extravagant as I don't really have any (other than passing my classes!).

But what about other non-academic goals? For some, your goals may be as simple as getting out of bed in the morning, and even if you didn't make it out of bed today, there is always tomorrow! For others, it may be to get your steps in, to eat healthier, to spend more time doing what you love or seeing who you love, or finding that balance between school life, social life and home life. I'm definitely finding it hard to meet the school-life balance and if you are too, we're in it together! As this blog grows and blossoms, there will be more and more posts on finding balance, finding motivation, finding yourself and much more, and I'm so glad you're here following along.

That concludes my first blog post, but stay tuned for more to come, and thank you for reading!

XOXO,

Lola
